Which Fire TV devices work?
FIDA Player runs on Fire TV devices with Fire OS 6 or newer: the Fire TV Stick 4K, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, the Fire TV Stick Lite and the Fire TV Stick (3rd Gen) – and on the Fire TV Cube.
- Fire TV Sticks of the 1st and 2nd generation (Fire OS 5) are too old: the app needs Android 6.0, that is Fire OS 6 or newer.
- Devices with Amazon’s new operating system Vega OS (for example the Fire TV Stick 4K Select) cannot install Android apps: Vega OS is not Android and does not run such apps. This is not specific to FIDA Player.
Not sure which model you have? You can find it under Settings › My Fire TV › About.
Install FIDA Player on the Fire TV Stick
You download FIDA Player straight from this page. The easiest way is the free “Downloader” app – you only type in a short address.
- Search the Fire TV menu for “Downloader” and install the free app.
- Open Settings › My Fire TV › Developer Options › Install unknown apps and allow Downloader. No developer options? Click the device name seven times under “My Fire TV › About”.
- In Downloader, enter the address
fida-player.com/apkand press Go. - Choose Install – afterwards you’ll find FIDA Player among your apps.
Which file is downloaded? The address fida-player.com/apk delivers the recommended version, which runs on every Fire TV Stick. A second, 64-bit version is available in the download section – you only need it if the recommended one cannot be installed.
Add your playlist on the Fire TV Stick
On first launch FIDA Player asks for your playlist. You need an M3U link or an M3U file – you get it from your provider. FIDA Player itself contains no channels, movies or series.
- Send it from your phone (most convenient): A code appears on the TV. You scan it with your phone and send the link or the file straight to the Fire TV Stick – no need to type the long address with the remote.
- Type the link: Enter the M3U link with the on-screen keyboard. The Fire TV app on your phone makes typing text much easier.
What is inside such a file and how to spot errors is explained in the guide Play an M3U playlist.
Using the Fire TV remote
- OK opens the channel list over the running picture – the stream does not stop.
- Up/Down zaps between channels, Right shows the recently watched channels for quick switching back.
- Press and hold OK to open the quick menu: Live TV, Movies, Series, Smart TV, Settings, switch player and favorites.
- For movies and series: “Continue watching”, the next episode starts automatically, seek with Left/Right (hold to seek faster).
- Audio track and subtitles are selectable; the app remembers the language for the next movies.
There is also the Smart TV view: a home screen in the style of modern streaming apps with tabs, search, genre and language filters, Top 10 and film collections – more on the page M3U player for Android TV, it is the same app.
If something doesn’t work
The installation is rejected
Check that installing unknown apps is allowed for Downloader in the developer options (step 2 above). Only then does the Fire TV Stick accept the file.
A channel stutters or has no sound
Press and hold OK and choose the other player in the quick menu. FIDA Player uses ExoPlayer and VLC and also switches by itself when there are problems. In the settings you can also increase the buffer – helpful with weak Wi-Fi.
The playlist does not load
Try opening the M3U link in your phone’s browser. If it doesn’t load there either, the link is the problem (expired, copied incorrectly or only reachable in your provider’s network). More causes are listed under Play an M3U playlist.
